Tasks are the primary entity within Orbis TaskCentre® and represent a part or all of a distinct business process. Each Task contains multiple interrelated Actions.

By building Tasks it is easy to design business rules that partially or completely replace a manual process. Within each Task there is complete control for inputting, formatting and outputting data and information, enabling comprehensive automation of manual processes. Each Task periodically or dynamically monitors input sources for changes which then trigger inter-related Actions.

Actions are the individual steps within a Task that provide unique functions which combine and work together to build a business process. Actions can be identified into four types of categories Input, Format, Output and Execute.
